This course will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the mechanisms of disease development, strengthen your clinical perspective of pathophysiological concepts, challenge your critical thinking and stimulate your curiosity. Above all, the solid working knowledge of pathophysiology offered in this course will help you make sound clinical decisions as a Nurse Practitioner. The following learning outcomes have been developed for this course:
- Synthesize knowledge of the pathophysiology of disorders affecting the musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, respiratory, endocrine, reproductive, renal, integumentary, gastrointestinal and nervous systems.
- Analyze and interpret diagnostic and imaging tests based on pathophysiological concepts.
- Use pathophysiological concepts to explain epidemiological and geographic disease patterns.
- Explain the environmental and occupational factors that influence disease progression.
- Discuss the role of genetics in preventing and assessing risk factors for diseases.
This course is offered in a hybrid online course format integrating synchronous or real-time virtual classrooms (course professor and students presentation, discussion on selected topics), and asynchronous or offline digital learning environment (asynchronous learning modules, forum discussions).
